POPULATION HEALTH
The EHR and other data are enabling new insights about human health and disease through large-scale analyses. This unprecedented amount of data can be used to generate new biomedical knowledge in addition to optimizing health and healthcare processes. We are helping to advance population health through the translation of artificial intelligence (AI)-based methods into real-world clinical practice. This “last mile” of realizing AI’s potential in healthcare involves understanding the practical barriers to implementation and adoption, evolving regulatory policies, and the new operational methods that data-driven techniques necessitate. We bring together myriad stakeholders to tackle these problems, including clinicians, data scientists, public health, and others. Key areas for our Center presently include improving risk stratification of patients to provide early interventions that mitigate longer-term healthcare issues and costs; as well as finding ways to address low-value quality care.
